Speed Out Extractor - Broken Bolt and Damaged Screw Extractor 4 Piece Kit

I love fixing things around the house in my spare time. Of course sometimes it takes me a bit to get to but when I do I knock a few honey do’s in a row to try and make up for it. Well when you live in an older house here in the south you tend to find surprising things including screws that snap in half or have worn out heads. If your like me you hate having to dig around the head and grab the screw with a pair of pliers painfully backing it out until you give up and bend it back and forth until it finally breaks off.

Well I finally found an answer for those pesky screws, or so I thought. The Speed Out Extractor did work on your basic around the house wood screws. It did not work on the goliath sized wood screws that were really in there. Also I did have a couple problems one being that the number 4 bit had to be inserted into the drill and I couldn’t use any kind of an extension. The other problem was that on harder steel screws the bits actually didn’t work at all and the bit itself began grinding down and becoming dull.

The kit comes with 4 double sided speed out bits and each one is numbered for convenience. There weren’t any instructions.(other than the picture provided up-top) To save you some time and trouble I am going to include some basic instructions. If you have a punch available then use it to create a mark in the center of the screw so the bit doesn’t wander. Next you use the non-threaded side to drill out the head and use the threaded side to remove the screw.

These bits aren’t for the tough jobs or rusted and seized up screws. I would not recommend this product to professionals. However, for your random around the house projects, D.I.Y., and hobbyest I would recommend you give The Speed Out Extractor a try. Just keep in mind that this is an emergency kit for a few uses only. You should consider this to be a throw away kinda tool and for the price I think it is worth it.

Highlights:

Pros** – 2 in 1 drill bit/extractor design, compatible with quick chuck systems, removes several kinds of smaller bolts and screws, basic holding case included, 4 pieces included, great for emergencies, you can get a few uses out of each bit.

Cons** – The case isn’t very high quality but it does it’s job, the bits aren’t very high quality and are only good for a few uses, not great for super old rusted or seized bolts and screws, not suited for professional applications.

Shipping & Packaging ** – We received this device using amazon prime for free shipping. It arrived in two days and the item was packaged well. The Speed Out Extractor comes in its own convenient case but it is a basic case.

In closing the Speed Out Extractor is great when your in a pinch or for a few smaller jobs around the house. It is also great for hobbies or projects but not for anything of professional grade or that has been there for 10 or 20 years. I would recommend keeping a set or two in your tool box for emergencies and the price is pretty reasonable. (when it comes back in stock of course) More Info
